NEW YORK -- The New York Rangers came up short in their first shot at clinching a playoff berth. Tom Brady Jersey . The Ottawa Senators bounced back from a humbling loss and gave their flickering post-season chances a slight spark. When all was said and done Saturday night, the Senators skated off with a 3-2 win at Madison Square Garden that boosted their hopes and delayed any celebration for the host Rangers. "Were just trying to win games," said Senators captain Jason Spezza, whose second-period goal was the winner. "Were trying to build some momentum, win games and play right. "If were winning games, it will be a more enjoyable end of the season." The Senators shook off a 7-4 loss to Montreal on Friday when a 3-0 lead was wiped out by seven straight goals against them. Ottawa is five points behind the second wild card in the Eastern Conference, but the Senators will have to jump over four teams with only four games left to get into the playoffs. "We wanted to have a response just for the morale of the group," Spezza said. "We know its been a disappointing year, we know that we havent reached expectations, but we still have these games left to play so we want to win them." Robin Lehner made 41 saves and held off a furious late push by the Rangers, who still need one point to secure a playoff spot. They could qualify before their next game if New Jersey loses to Calgary on Monday. The Rangers will host Carolina on Tuesday. "We are still in a good spot," defenceman Dan Girardi said. "Its in our hands to get that win in our next game, and hopefully secure home ice in the first round." New York, with three games remaining, would get that if it keeps its hold on second place in the Metropolitan Division over Philadelphia, which lost at Boston on Saturday. The Flyers trail by four points with five games left. The Rangers, back home after a 2-1-1 Western road trip, started slowly and trailed 2-0 in the first period. Mark Stone and Mika Zibanejad put Ottawa in front, and Spezza made it 3-1 in the second. Mats Zuccarello deflected in two goals in the second to bring the Rangers within a goal each time. Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves. "I hope our mindset is not to clinch. Its about getting the home advantage," Lundqvist said. "Id rather look ahead than behind me." Ottawa grabbed the lead with 7:15 left in the first off a rush. Clarke McArthur made a pass from the left circle to Stone, who gathered the puck on the inside edge of the right circle and snapped a shot past Lundqvist for his third goal of the season and second in seven games. Less than a minute later, Carl Hagelin had two prime scoring chances near the left post, but was denied by Lehner and then again on the rebound. Rick Nash, who recorded seven shots, then had a breakaway chance, but his in-close stuff attempt was stopped by Lehner with 2:48 left in the first. "We won and Im happy," Lehner said. "(My teammates) were helping me with rebounds, and I saw most pucks. They had some good chances, but I think we played better." Ottawa turned the puck right around and made it 2-0 just 11 seconds later. Zack Smith won a faceoff in the Rangers zone back to Zibanejad, who worked his way into the slot and ripped a shot by Lundqvist for his 16th of the season and second in two nights. Martin St. Louis nearly got the Rangers on the board, but he was stopped on a partial breakaway by defenceman Erik Karlsson, less than a minute after Lundqvist sticked away Chris Neils hard drive. Rangers defenceman John Moore, in his second game following a six-game absence caused by a concussion, fired a hard, rising shot from the left point that sailed into traffic, struck Zuccarello and nestled in the net to make it 2-1 at 5:25. Ottawa restored its two-goal lead 3:02 later after the Rangers couldnt gain control of the puck. Karlsson ripped a drive from the centre of the blue line that disappeared in a huddle of bodies in the crease, but was then poked in by Spezza, who wasnt overly impressed by his 20th goal. "Its nice to get but its pretty insignificant, especially in a year where you dont make the playoffs," he said. New York cut its deficit back to a goal with 8:05 remaining in the second. Zuccarello swung the puck behind the net and around the boards to Marc Staal, who took a shot from above the left circle that Zuccarello deflected in for his 19th goal. The Rangers hurt their comeback chances in the final moments when they retaliated for what appeared to be a late hit by Neil on Staal. New York was short-handed for 2 minutes of the final 2:47. NOTES: Ottawa is 4-7-3 in the second of back-to-back games this season. ... Spezza has eight 20-goal seasons in the NHL. ... New York defenceman Ryan McDonagh (shoulder) missed his second straight game. David Andrews Jersey . New York (16-9-8) took over first place in the Eastern Conference and has the best record in the league with one game remaining. Houstons five-game unbeaten streak was snapped, and the Dynamo (13-11-9) are sixth in the East with one game remaining. Jonathan Jones Jersey . - The Baltimore Ravens have hired Steve Spagnuolo to be their secondary coach and assistant head coach. http://www.cheappatriotsjerseyssale.com/...ersey-sale .com) - The Toronto Raptors are paying Rudy Gay a visit on Wednesday night when they head into the Sleep Train Arena to take on the Sacramento Kings.BEREA, Ohio - The switch at quarterback for the Browns appears inevitable this week.Johnny Football may be about to take over Clevelands offence. After Brian Hoyer played poorly again in Sundays loss to Indianapolis, Browns coach Mike Pettine seemed to be on the verge of giving rookie Johnny Manziel his first NFL start against Cincinnati.I think its natural to lean the other way, given the results, Pettine said Monday. I still want to make sure we do our due diligence and talk to everybody involved.Pettine was unclear on if he had already decided to make the change and promote Manziel, the high-profile backup who came off the bench and replaced a struggling Hoyer in the fourth quarter two weeks ago in Buffalo. Pettine, who stuck with Hoyer last week because he had the Browns in the playoff mix, said he wants to meet with his coaching staff and general manager Ray Farmer before telling both quarterbacks and announcing who will face the Bengals.Pettine said the offensive problems in Sundays game were deeper than the quarterback, but he called the Browns passing attack sub-standard. Pettine cited dropped passes, receivers running wrong routes and execution as factors but that Hoyer has to play better. There are clearly some throws that he missed, but I think it was also exaggerated by how poorly we were in the pass game around him, Pettine said. We always say it, A quarterback is only as good as his supporting cast. When the guys around him play well, Brian will play well. Its rare that theres a quarterback that can transcend his supporting cast. Were in a results business. Weve lost two in a row. We all know what the numbers have been in the pass game. For us to be successful, they need to improve. The Browns (7-6) blew a 14-point lead in the third quarter, when Hoyer and Clevelands offence failed to get a first down in three straight series.Pettine said Manziel would absolutely be ready if called upon to make his first start. Pettine said nothing is giving him pause to go with the first-round pick.Ill fall back on what Ive said all along. We pull together the circumstances that we have, just like we did last week. Who gives us the best chance to win? Pettine said. Thats the decision we go with. To this point, its been Brian.Pettine was peppered with questions about Manziels dedication and if he worked hard enough to warrant the proomotion. Ted Karras Jersey. Since he was drafted, there have been questions about Manziels commitment, with much of the scrutiny stemming from off-the-field behaviour. Manziels penchant for partying and late nights became an issue a few weeks ago when he was involved in a 2:30 a.m. scuffle at a downtown hotel where he lives. On Sunday, Manziel didnt arrive at the stadium until shortly before 11 a.m. for a 1 p.m. kickoff. However, Pettine said Manziel was on time and he had no issues with Manziel attending a Cavaliers game last week when some felt he needed to have his nose in the playbook.Hoyers freefall has been striking. He has thrown just one touchdown pass and eight interceptions in the past four games, a slide that has damaged the Browns hopes of making the playoffs for the first time since 2002.Its crazy how fast things change, said Hoyer, who is in the final year of his contract. I feel like four or five weeks ago were talking about contract talks and now were talking about if Im even going to be staying here. Its the furthest thing from my mind right now.Hoyer doesnt think hes playing any differently. He bemoaned missed opportunities against the Colts, especially on long passes in which he overthrew receivers Josh Gordon and Taylor Gabriel. Hoyer, too, says others need to play better around him.Everybodys got to be able to step up and when youre not being perfect you need one guy to step up and make a big play and we didnt have that yesterday, he said. We didnt have one play that just changed it all for us and when youre having a game where theres some inconsistencies, and not everybodys doing their job on every play, you need that one play or that one player to make a play and we didnt have it yesterday.NOTES: Browns S Tashaun Gipson has begun running and believes hell play again this season after missing two games with a strained knee ligament. Gipson was leading the NFL in interceptions when he got hurt. ... Pettine said Hoyers first interception on Sunday was because TE Jordan Cameron ran the wrong route. ... Pettine expects C Ryan Seymour to start for the second straight week. He made his starting debut against the Colts.___AP NFL website: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP_NFL(A previous version of this story incorrectly said the Browns had a 21-point lead. LOS ANGELES -- Dodgers catcher A. Donte Jackson Jersey .J. Ellis underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday and is expected to be out four to six weeks. Ellis had a 20-minute operation performed by Dodgers physician Dr. Neal ElAttrache to repair the medial meniscus in his knee. Ellis is expected to rejoin his teammates on Wednesday and begin rehabilitation. The club recalled catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Albuquerque and started him against Detroits Max Scherzer in the opener of a two-game interleague series. Drew Butera was Federowiczs backup. "A.J. is the kind of guy that from a preparation standpoint has been what weve asked -- to know what hes doing when he puts the fingers down, to know why, to understand our pitchers and all the matchups and everything else," manager Don Mattingly said. "We ask a lot of our catchers, and A.J. has bought into that. So were going to miss that, no question. But hes going to be back here tomorrow, and hes the kind of guy that will be doing everything to help Fed and Drew out and still be a part of what were doing. Ellis injured his left knee Saturday while rounding third base and trying to score from second on a single by Andre Ethier. Ellis underwent the same procedure on his left knee following the 2012 season. "I know he felt a misstep the other day and kind of felt it right then. And it was really sore after that," Mattingly said. Ellis joined Clayton Kershaw, setup man Brian Wilson and Chad Billingsley on the disabled list, and Yasiel Puig sat out his second game because of a swollen left thumb. Puig was hurt when he made a headfirst slide into first base on an infield hit during Saturdays 7-2 loss to San Francisco. Federowicz appeared in 56 games with the Dodgers last season, hitting four home runs and driving in 16 runs, and he has played in 66 big league games with Los Angeles since making his big league debut in 2011. He was optioned to Albuquerque on March 22, but remained with the big club on its extended roster for the two-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Australia. Los Angeles kept Butera on the active big league roster because he could be sent to the minor leagues without clearing waivers -- unlike Federowicz. "I think it just tests our depth," Mattingly said. "We feel like Fed and Drew are capable to get through this stretch with out A.J., the same as our bullpen without Brian. We cant really say its going to be good getting through this stretch without Clayton, because theres nobody quite like him. But I do think were capable of winning games and doing what we have to do." Ryan Kalil Jersey . Niese pitched seven steady innings on a rainy Tuesday night and Daniel Murphy had three hits to lead New York to a 6-1 victory over the Phillies. James Bradberry Jersey . The Cavs announced the move Saturday, one day after LeBron James said hes returning to Cleveland. A 12-year veteran, Haywood has played in 794 NBA games, averaging 6. http://www.cheappanthersjerseysonline.co...sey-online . Gorges is believed to have suffered the injury while blocking a shot with a hand during Montreals win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The Canadiens added to their defensive depth this week by acquiring veteran Mike Weaver from the Florida Panthers.Houston quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick finally shaved the bushy and overgrown beard hed been sporting the entire season this week. And on the day he debuted his closely trimmed facial hair, he scolded reporters for not telling him how terrible his old look was.Im kind of mad you guys didnt tell me I looked like that, he said. I finally had time to look in the mirror and thought it was disgusting and decided to trim it down a little bit.He said getting rid of the wild look was not an easy task.We had to chop it down piece by piece, he said. It was definitely a significant amount of time to take it off.He said a bonus of the change is that his young daughters arent scared of him anymore. One of his sons remarked that he had the longest neck in the world.Fitzpatrick, who was benched two games ago, will return to the starting lineup Sunday at Tennessee with Ryan Mallett out with a season-ending chest injury. Some wondered if he decided to get a new look to go with his fresh start on the field? It was more just me getting tired with having to pick corn out of it, Fitzpatrick joked. When I eat pancakes in the morning with the syrup and stuff, it would be there for days. My wife asks me, Did you have pancakes this morning? (I say) No, it was four days ago. No more of those questions, which will be good.I KNOW THAT GUY: Zach Mettenberger had an up-close view of Odell Beckham Jr. and his great hands at LSU. For the record, the Titans quarterback wasnt surprised by that three-fingered grab Beckham made Sunday night for the Giants.Him and Jarvis (Landry) used to have some pretty cool ones at practice, Mettenberger said of his former teammates. I knew he could do that. That was a loaded offence at LSU with Beckham, Landry, Mettenberger and Alfred Blue, who has been filling in for Arian Foster with the Texans. Mettenberger said its cool to see them all having success now knowing they were all together a year ago.But for all the great catches Beckham made at LSU, Mettenberger said he hadnt seen anything like what the wide receiver did for Eli Manning.Hes a really special athlete, Mettenberger said. Once in a generation really.Another Manning was very impressed, too.Peyton Manning studies film like hes cramming for the bar exam. He has a mental rolodex of all the plays and calls and games hes ever experienced or witnessed. And hes as big a student of the game as anybody in the NFL.He said of all the receptions etched in his memory bank, none beats Beckhams.Thats as fine a catch as Ive seen, Manning said, before deadpanning: I was watching it on TV and its just what Newman graduates do. Its what happens. The Mannings and Beckham all attended Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans. Cam Newton Jersey. ORE BECKHAM: Dallas cornerback Brandon Carr isnt the type to shy away from anything reporters want to ask him. But he hasnt taken kindly to questions about Beckhams spectacular catch, even if the Cowboys got a 31-28 win over the Giants last weekend.Carr was on the wrong side of history on the play, captured in the many images and the viral video stumbling to the ground as Beckham holds the ball in the fingertips of his fully outstretched right hand.I dont really get into the hoopla with the media and whatever yall be talking about, Carr said. We won the game. In this league, you play long enough, youre on both sides of the fence. Youre making plays, you get plays made on you.By the third question two days after the catch, Carr was on edge.I wont address it anymore, he said. If you all ask me, Ill just go lift weights in like three seconds.Coach Jason Garrett believes Carr will have the same short memory for Beckhams catch that hes had throughout a seven-year career.Hes a good football player, Garrett said. The guys who are mentally strong enough to keep coming back and handle success themselves, but also handle the adversities that happen, are the ones that are the best players.RUNNING RUSSELL: Before the big NFC West showdown on Thanksgiving night won easily by Seattle, 49ers defensive co-ordinator Vic Fangio was comparing mobile, running Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to Barry Sanders.Thats just how hard Wilson can be to stop when he keeps the ball himself. When Wilson has the ball in his hand, hes like defending Barry Sanders with his quickness and speed and elusiveness, Fangio said. Hes a tough assignment. Hes got more rushing yards than most of the running backs in the league.Vic coached against Barry, too, back in the day, Carroll said. I dont know if theres been a player that made a defensive coach or co-ordinator cringe more and tense up more. Because he could score from anywhere on the field. I think hes one of the great open-field guys that ever played this game.I dont know if Russells ready for that right now. Every now and then he gets out and makes a few yards and tries to get out of bounds without getting hit. Thats not at all like Barry Sanders.Wilson ran for a team-high 73 yards on 10 carries in last weeks 19-3 win against Arizona, averaging 7.3 yards per carry. Marshawn Lynch managed just 39 yards on 15 carries.___AP Pro Football Writers Barry Wilner and Arnie Stapleton and Sports Writers Janie McCauley, Schuyler Dixon and Teresa M. Dwight Yorke has branded Aston Villa manager Remi Garde a big disappointment and believes his former club are doomed to suffer relegation from the top flight for the first time since 1987. Sheldon Rankins Jersey . Villa are bottom of the table, nine points adrift of safety with just eight games left to play ahead of their live on Sky clash with Swansea on Saturday Night Football.Garde has won just three out of 22 matches since replacing Tim Sherwood in November. You expect some kind of energy in store when your new manager comes in, shows a little bit of passion and little bit of fight, Yorke told Sky Sports News HQ.They have nothing to lose and Ive not seen that coming from the manager, Ive not seen it from the players and I feel that over the period of time that Remi Garde has taken over at Aston Villa he hasnt shown me anything that he can get Aston Villa out of this situation. For me that is the biggest disappointment, when a manager comes in he tries to make an impact and Remi Garde has failed to do that so far and I feel that has generated throughout the team. Dwight Yorke thinks hes the man to bring Aston Villa back into the Premier League if theyre relegated this season The team is looking extremely low at this point in time and I have to say they look are going to be playing in the Championship. If I was to be given that job, Im sure, Im convinced that I can do a really good job in terms of getting them back into the Premier League. Also See: No guarantees for Garde CEO Fox leaves Villa Premier League table Sky Live: Swansea v Aston Villa Manti Teo Jersey . -- Jonas Hiller is cautiously confident he has kicked his vertigo. Kurt Coleman Jersey . Raonic, the No. 8 seed from Thornhill, Ont., had 18 aces in the match. He needed one hour 39 minutes to complete the victory. http://www.cheapsaintsjerseysonline.com/...sey-online .C. -- North Carolina State coach Mark Gottfried said his team had a "golden" opportunity to help its NCAA tournament chances.DUBLIN, Ireland -- Ireland overcame the late withdrawal of captain Paul OConnell to beat Scotland 28-6 in their Six Nations opener at Lansdowne Road on Sunday. OConnell picked up a chest infection on Saturday night, but the hugely influential lock wasnt missed for once as his replacement, Dan Tuohy, helped mince up the Scotland lineout in the first half and stand-in skipper Jamie Heaslip led by example with a try and high workrate. Ireland bridged halftime with tries by winger Andrew Trimble and Heaslip, and Jonathan Sexton added 13 points to overtake Michael Kiernan and become his countrys third highest point-scorer in tests. Fullback Rob Kearney, marking his 50th cap, added a late try when the result was already in Irelands grasp. Without OConnell, Sean OBrien and Gordon DArcy, three big contributors in the heart-breaking loss to New Zealand in the last outing in November, there was enough doubt about Irelands ability and mindset to achieve another good start in the last Six Nations for Brian ODriscoll. But the doubts proved unnecessary, as Ireland had enough class and nous for a Scotland still lacking a killer touch, and won its tournament opener for the 10th time in the last 11 years. Even so, Heaslip said coach Joe Schmidt tore into them after the game, saying they needed "huge improvements." The trouble with Ireland is finishing what it starts, unlike its next opponent, Wales, a slow Six Nations starter but fast finisher. The defending champion comes to Dublin next Saturday. "Massive, massive challenge coming," Kearney said. "We have to recover really well now. Weve only got six days, theyve had an extra day. Theyre going for three championships in a row, so were under no illusions." Heaslip and Schmidt said they were shocked to discover OConnell became ill overnight, hardly slept, and saw a doctor at 4:30 a.m. Schmidt said he expected OConnell, plus DArcy, to be available for the Wales game. "Its a relief to me that weve got through the game and got a win on the board," he said. Scotland coach Scott Johnson rued his sides naivety. "We may have to go to somee dark places and bring some torches," Johnson said. Terron Armstead Jersey. "Theres a naivety there that well overcome by having some time in the saddle. They dont understand they are doing the hard bits quite easily, but its the finishing off." Scotland began the match by doing what it does best, holding the ball. The Scots worked 11 phases into the Ireland 22 until they were harshly penalized for holding too long. Then Greig Laidlaws long-range penalty hit the left upright. Sexton and Laidlaw swapped penalties, and Ireland ended up leading 6-3 into the second quarter. Not until the last 10 minutes did the heart-rate rise. No. 8 David Denton came closest to a Scotland try when he burst blindside off a ruck 10 metres out and was trying to reach out to the line when he was bowled into touch by scrumhalf Conor Murray and flanker Peter OMahony. As Ireland loosened Scotlands pressure -- winning four Scottish throw-ins helped -- Scots and Lions winger Sean Maitland landed awkwardly on his right ankle from jumping for an up and under and limped off with concussion. Sexton put the pressure back on Scotland by carving past tackles in midfield, and gave Heaslip a shot in the left corner, but the No. 8 stepped over the sideline just before he touched down. Ireland failed twice from five-meter lineouts with seconds to go and Scotlands defence looked like holding, but quick rucks helped Ireland find Scotland short on the right wing, where Kearney gave Trimble the overlap to score for an 11-3 halftime lead. "That gave us a little bit of breathing space," Kearney said. Soon after the restart, Laidlaw cut the deficit to five, but Ireland put the game away in the 47th when Tuohys lineout take was mauled by Ireland and Heaslip scored too easily. Sexton converted for 18-6 and added a third penalty before the hour. Ireland controlled possession throughout the half, and inevitably notched a third try to Kearney, who exploited a tiring defence when he slipped off replacement Alasdair Dickinson and dragged flanker Ryan Wilson to the tryline nine minutes from time. NEW YORK -- Alex Rodriguezs record-breaking grand slam was a big one for the Yankees, who can only hope it came in time for a last-gasp run at the playoffs. Kyle Wilber Jersey . Rodriguez set a major league mark with his 24th career slam, passing Lou Gehrig with a tiebreaking shot in the seventh inning that sent New York to a 5-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Friday night. "It means Im getting old," said Rodriguez, 38. "Its hard to think about things like that right now. Were really on a sprint to the end here and every win is huge for us." A-Rods drive helped CC Sabathia (14-13) beat Tim Lincecum in a matchup of former Cy Young Award winners having subpar seasons. More importantly for the Yankees, it carried them to their second win in seven games as they cling to faint playoff hopes. New York, which has eight games remaining, pulled within three of the second AL wild card -- with three other teams in between. The Indians 2-1 rain-shortened win over Houston, moved them a half-game ahead of Texas, which began the day tied with Tampa Bay atop the standings but lost 2-1 to Kansas City. The Rays beat Baltimore in 18 innings to keep the lead. "Its an unbelievable accomplishment and its a big one for us," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "I dont know if we can afford to lose any more games." Alfonso Soriano also homered and New York opened its final homestand with a much-needed victory, hours after pitcher Andy Pettitte announced his plans to retire -- again -- following this season. The news about Pettitte hardly came as a surprise, but the 41-year-old lefty put to rest any speculation he might be back next season. Pettitte, who stepped off the mound for a year before returning in 2012, is scheduled to start the series finale Sunday -- the same day the Yankees will honour retiring closer Mariano Rivera in a pregame ceremony. Rookie outfielder Juan Perez, back home in the Bronx, hit an RBI double for the Giants. The defending World Series champions have spent all week in New York -- they took two of three from the Mets at Citi Field, where a large throng of vocal San Francisco fans made them feel right at home. Giants rooters came out in the Bronx, too, easy to spot in their orange or black jerseys. An audible chant of "Lets go Giants!" quickly drew boos from Yankees fans in the crowd of 41,734. "Theres a lot of Giants fans here. I noticed that. They travel well," Rodriguez said. With the score tied at 1, Eduardo Nunez grounded a single through the right side to start the seventh. Lincecum (10-14) hit Brendan Ryan with a pitch and walked Ichiro Suzuki with two outs, loading the bases and ending the right-handers night. Rodriguez, hampered by a sore leg lately, reached out and lofted a 2-1 pitch from George Kontos toward the hitter-friendly dimensions in right field for his 654th career homer and seventh this season. "Just tough to watch and tough to put somebody in that kind of situation," Lincecum said. "Just wasted a lot of pitches that inning, didnt attack the zone as much as the previous six, and I felt like I couldve gotten out of that better than what happened." The hit snapped a 1-for-25 slide for A-Rod, who returned Aug. 5 from hip surgery. It was his 14th slam for the Yankees, moving him ahead of Joe DiMaggio for second place on the franchise list behind Gehrig. "Im a huge fan of Lou Gehrig, everything hes done, going back to his college days in New York," Rodriguez said. "Hes kind of the gold standard for a Yankee. Special moment. Ill think about it someday." Sabathia was pulled after a leadoff single in the eighth and walked off to a warm ovation. David Robertson got Perez to ground into a double play, and Rivera worked a perfect ninth. But it was Rodriguez who delivered the big blow. "Unbelievable -- especially at that moment. He came up big for us again," Sabathia said. "Hopefully we can just keep getting big hits like that and keep winning games." Lincecum, who had won four straight decisions, was looking for his first five-game winning streak since early in the 2010 season. He was charged with four runs and five hits in 6 2-3 innings. He threw 66 of 121 pitches for strikes. "He pitched great," manager Bruce Bochy said. "Its some tough luck there in that last inning." NOTES: Giants CF Angel Pagan was rested in favour of Perez. ... DH Buster Posey singled in the sixth to end a 1-for-23 skid on the road trip. ... Rodriguezs previous slam came in Atlanta on June 12 last year. ... Looking to spark his struggling lineup, Girardi moved a slumping Suzuki into the leadoff spot, partly because he had faced Lincecum several times in the past few years. ... LHP Boone Logan (elbow) was available, Girardi said. ... After the Yankees got in late following Thursday nights loss at Toronto, C Chris Stewart was rested in favour of rookie J.R. Murphy. "Physically, I just think its too hard," Girardi said. Marquel Lee Jersey .L. - Defending womens champion Alberta improved to 3-0 at the Canadian junior curling championships with a 10-3 win over Ontario in Sundays afternoon draw. Toronto ended an 0-4-0 skid with Sundays shootout win over visiting New Jersey, but the club could have a difficult time making it two victories in a row tonight. The Maple Leafs have dropped three straight and 11 of the last 12 regular- season meetings against Boston overall and the Bruins have claimed six straight in Beantown.(SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Blues were able to halt their longest losing streak of the season the last time out, and they hope to follow it up with a victory in a key divisional matchup. The Blues try to forge a tie for second place in the Central Division on Tuesday when they visit the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville enters this showdown three points behind Chicago for the top spot and two points ahead of St. Louis. St. Louis snapped a four-game skid with Mondays 3-0 victory over the visiting Colorado Avalanche. Martin Brodeur posted his first shutout as a member of the Blues with a 16-save effort and extended his all-time NHL record. Brodeur, who spent his first 21 seasons with the New Jersey Devils, has tallied the most shutouts in NHL history with 125. I think hes gotten more comfortable here, Butler said of Brodeur. I think tonight was an awesome performance by him. Dmitrij Jaskin, Chris Butler and Vladimir Tarasenko all scored for the Blues, who hadnt lost more than two in a row this season before the recent 0-3-1 slide. Although Brodeur turned in one of his best efforts in a Blues sweater last night, St. Louis would love to welcome No. 1 goaltender Brian Elliott back to the crease on Tuesday. Elliott has been sidelined since Nov. 25 with a lower-body injury, but he returned to practice on Sunday, when head coach Ken Hitchcock said he hoped the goalie would be ready here in the next couple of days. While theres a chance Elliott could return tonight, if he is unable to go then rookie Jake Allen will likely get the call. The Blues lost forward Chhris Porter to a leg injury in the second period of Mondays game and he did not return. Emmanuel Lamur Jersey. He is questionable for tonight. St. Louis, which is beginning a four-game road trip tonight, is 9-7-2 as the away team this season. Nashville lost for the second time in three games on Monday when it dropped a 5-4 shootout decision in Chicago despite holding a 3-0 lead over the Blackhawks at one point. After coming back from a three-goal deficit in the second period, the Blackhawks needed another tying goal with less than two minutes left in regulation. Bryan Bickell delivered the marker with the goalie pulled and 1:13 left on the clock to make it a 4-4 game. Jonathan Toews scored the lone goal of the shootout to deliver the victory for the Blackhawks. James Neal scored a pair of goals for Nashville. Roman Josi and Craig Smith potted the other two Predators goals and Pekka Rinne allowed four goals on 42 shots. I thought we had a great start, and I thought we played strong throughout, said Neal. We ran into a little penalty trouble, and theyve got a great power play. Nashville hopes to bounce back tonight on home ice, where it boasts a 13-2-1 record this season. The Predators entered 2013-14 having lost six straight in the series against the Blues, but Nashville has taken two of three from St. Louis this season. The clubs last met on Dec. 4 in Music City when the Preds downed the Blues, 4-3, in regulation. Rinne made 29 saves for the win, while Mike Ribeiro recorded a goal and two assists. The victory also snapped St. Louis six-game winning streak in Nashville. CHICAGO -- Marcus Semien simply tried to stay calm and collect himself as he stepped to the plate with the Chicago White Sox threatening to take the lead. Athletics Beau Taylor Jersey . Then, he delivered. Semien hit a tiebreaking RBI double in a two-run 12th, Jose Quintana pitched one-hit ball over seven innings, and the White Sox beat the Cubs 3-1 at Wrigley Field on Monday night. "Sometimes you get a little bit more amped up," Semien said. "But the calmer I am, the better I do, usually." Quintana and five relievers combined on a four-hitter, and the White Sox came away with the win after dropping four straight and six of seven to their crosstown rivals. The Cubs lost even though Jeff Samardzija pitched three-hit ball over nine innings. He remained winless despite coming up big on the mound and delivering at the plate, coming through with the lone hit off Quintana and scoring the Cubs lone run. "You couldnt ask for anything more from a starting pitcher than what he gave us," manager Rick Renteria said. "So its a shame that we werent able to get (the win) for him." The winning rally started when Alexei Ramirez singled off Justin Grimm with two out and stole second. Tyler Flowers walked, and Semien lined a 1-1 pitch over third baseman Mike Olts head to make it 2-1. Grimm (1-1) plunked pinch-hitter Paul Konerko on the left arm to load the bases and walked Alejandro De Aza to make it a two-run game. In the bottom half, Matt Lindstrom walked Welington Castillo leading off before Nate Schierholtz bounced into a double play. He then gave up a single to Olt and struck out Luis Valbuena for his fifth save in eight chances. Daniel Webb (3-0) struck out the lone batter he faced for the win. Both teams got dominant starts, with Samardzija and Quintana each allowing one run on a chilly night with the wind blowing in. The only hit off Quintana was a leadoff double in the sixth by Samardzija, who scored on a sacrifice fly by Junior Lake that tied it at 1. The White Sox threatened in the ninth when Samardzija walked Jose Abreu and Adam Dunn with one out, but Dayan Viciedo grounded into a double play. In the bottom half, the Cubs Anthony Rizzo singled off Ronald Belisario with one out and moved to second on a grounder to shortstop by Starlin Castro, with the throw from Alexei Ramirez deep in the hole barely beating him. The call was upheld after a replay review, and Castillo then struck out to send the game to extra innings. The Cubs left two on in the 11th when Webb came in for Scott Downs and struck out Castro for the third out. It was another hard-luck night for Samardzija, who struck out seven and walked two while throwing a career-high 126 pitches. He is 0-3 in seven starts this season despite a 1.62 ERA, and the Cubs are 1-6 when he pitches. His most recent win was against San Diego on Aug. 24. In 13 starts since then, hes 0-5. "We come out to win games every day regardless of whos on the mound or what the lineup is or who were facing," he said. "You come out to win the game. Anytime you dont win, its frustrating." Quintana, meanwhile, retired the first 14 batters before walking Schierholtz and Olt. Still, he took yet another no-decision. He has four after setting an American League record with 17 last season. "He was great," manager Robin Ventura said. "Both pitchers were great. Q had a little extra life on it today. Would have liked to have kept him in there. Hes not quite the hitter the other guy is. He pitched great for us. He was rolling there pretty good." NOTES: White Sox ace Chris Sale said he felt fine after throwing his first bullpen session since injuring his left arm. Sale threw 40 pitches before Mondays game. General manager Rick Hahn said the left-hander will go on a rehab assignment in the "coming couple weeks." ... Hahn also said reliever Nate Jones had back surgery and will be re-evaluated in a month. He is on the 60-day disabled list. ... ARLINGTON, Texas -- Brandon Carr and the Dallas Cowboys are serious about forcing turnovers. They needed six to put away Eli Manning and the New York Giants. Carr returned an interception 49 yards for the clinching touchdown, and the Cowboys overcame a big night from Manning to beat him for the first time at their fancy $1.2 billion stadium in a 36-31 victory Sunday night. Tony Romo shook off hits to the ribs that knocked him out for the final Dallas play of the first half and threw a pair of touchdown passes to Jason Witten. Manning threw three touchdown passes to Victor Cruz and four overall, and he had New York in position for a comeback victory despite the flurry of mistakes. But with the Giants trailing 30-24, Mannings pass went off the hand of running back DeRel Scott into Carrs arms. The cornerback beat Manning down the sideline with 1:50 left for Dallas second defensive touchdown. Barry Church returned a fumble 27 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. "Its infectious. Its contagious," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "We challenged them at halftime. We had three, lets get three more." The Cowboys had only 16 turnovers all last year, switched to a four-man front with new defensive co-ordinator Monte Kiffin and swore all preseason that taking the ball away was the foremost thing on their minds. They proved it from the first snap of the season. DeMarcus Ware intercepted Mannings first pass, and the Giants turned it over on their first three possessions. The Cowboys didnt take advantage of the early gifts, but built a big enough lead to hold off a New York comeback once the Giants finally stopped turning it over. It matched the most turnovers for the Giants since 1987, when they had seven against New Orleans. And it was the most Dallas has forced since 2003. "Just tells you our system is so much built on attitude," said defensive line coach Rod Marinelli, who was defensive co-ordinator for Chicago last year when the Bears led the NFL with 44 turnovers. "We had a lot of guys play tonight who jumped in and helped us. Its just team defence." Church scored on the fourth New York turnover -- the second fumble from new starting running back David Wilson, who lost control of the ball on a strip by Nick Hayden just before hitting the ground. Church scooped up the ball and ran it in. The Cowboys went up 27-10 in the third quarter after the fifth miscue -- a punt that bounced and hit Trumaine McBride while he was trying to block for the return. Rookie Devonte Holloman won a scramble for the loose ball, and Romo threw a 4-yard scoring pass to Witten. "I just think its pretty exciting to see what our team defensively has been able to do here, in training camp, preseason and into the season," Romo said. Athletics Chad Pinder Jersey. When the mistakes stopped, the Giants made it a game again. New York went 80 yards, capped by Cruzs second score on an 18-yard pass, and Cruz scored again from the 10 to pull the Giants to 30-24 midway through the fourth quarter. New York got the ball back, but the Cowboys forced a quick punt. After Dallas again failed to move the ball, Carr came through with the clinching interception. "Youre not going to win the game turning the ball over five times and muffing a punt," Giants coach Tom Coughlin said. "Im totally, totally disappointed, embarrassed about that football. Thats sloppy, sloppy football." The Giants scored with 11 seconds left on Mannings fourth touchdown, a 4-yarder to Brandon Myers. But Dallas recovered an onside kick. Manning was 27 of 42 for 450 yards and had three 100-yard receivers in Cruz (five catches, 118 yards), Hakeem Nicks (five for 114) and Rueben Randle (five for 101) Romo was 36 of 49 for 263 yards, and Miles Austin had 10 catches for 72 yards. Witten, who had only three touchdowns last year, had eight grabs for 70 and became the third tight end in NFL history with 9,000 yards receiving. DeMarco Murray had 86 yards rushing for Dallas. Romo threw a 15-yard TD pass to Witten before halftime, and Dan Bailey also had two field goals (30 and 38 yards) by then for a 13-10 lead. In the final minute of the first half, Romo was hit in the ribs and had the wind knocked out after being crushed between Mathias Kiwanuka and Justin Trattou after throwing an incompletion. Kyle Orton came on to finish the half, but Romo was back after halftime. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Romo didnt receive any treatment, and that the medical staff cleared him to play. "One tough player, one tough man," Jones said. "He will go out and play in pain and play hurt." After Mannings second interception, this one by new Cowboys safety Will Allen, Dallas had third-and-11 at the Giants 14. Romo threw a pass toward rookie Terrance Williams that instead deflected off the Giants Prince Amukamara into the arms of New York teammate Ryan Mundy, who raced 91 yards. He was caught from behind by Murray at the 1. NOTES: The crowd of 85,348 was significantly smaller than the NFL regular-season record crowd of 105,121 that watched the first Giants game at the stadium in its 2009 debut. ... CHARLOTTE, N. Blue Jays Sean Reid-Foley Jersey .C. -- The Panthers used the franchise tag on Greg Hardy on Friday, preventing the outspoken defensive end from hitting the free agent market. Hardy will make $12.45 million next season. The team also re-signed kicker Graham Gano to a four-year contract. Financial terms of that deal were not released. Hardy, known by teammates as "The Kraken," tied a franchise single-season record with 15 sacks in 2013 and was selected second-team All-Pro by The Associated Press. SportsIllustrated.com ranked Hardy as this off-seasons top NFL free agent. Hardy led the Panthers with 38 quarterback pressures and posted a career-high 67 tackles last season. "We are very pleased that Greg will be back with the Panthers next season," Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said in a release. "He was a big reason we were able to lead the league in sacks last year and keeps our defensive line intact." The Panthers have until July 15 to sign Hardy to a long-term contract extension. After that date they cant discuss a contract extension until after the season is over. "The franchise mechanism gives us time to secure the services of a very good player while we continue to look at the future of Greg with the Carolina Panthers," Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said in a release. "We have had great dialogue with both Greg and his agent. It was important to keep our defensive front together." Hardy and Charles Johnson are the only set of teammates to record 10 or more sacks in each of the last two seasons. They have combined for 49.5 sacks during that span, tied for most in the NFL. A former sixth-round draft pick out of Mississippi, Hardy made the league veteran minimum salary last year. Hardy said in January he would have no problem if the Panthers used the franchise tag on him after being selected to his first Pro Bowl. "I would love a franchise (tag), man," Hardy said prior to the playoffs. "Add another year on my career. Get to play football a little bit longer without a contract. Another year to be in Carolina just to get them a chance to get their fiscal responsibilities in order so we can be here forever, like Steve Smith and a lot of other guys." Hardy becomes the fifth player in Panthers history to receive the franchise tag, joining punter Todd Sauerbrun (2003), tackle Jordan Gross (2008), defensive end Julius Peppers (2009) and centre Ryan Kalil (2011). Gano helps solidify the teams kicking situation. The 26-year-old Gano is coming off a successful season, converting 24 of 27 field goal attempts while helping the team to a 12-4 record and the NFC South title. He set a franchise record and tied for the NFL lead with six made field goals from 50 yards or more. He was the only NFL kicker with three or more attempts from 50 yards or more without a miss from that distance. "Im really excited to be back in Carolina," Gano said. "It is where my family and I wanted to be. I love the organization and feel this is the best place for me." Rivera said: "The special teams unit was a large part of our success last year and we are excited to keep Graham as a part of our team. Graham has shown range and accuracy in his field goal kicking, and his strong leg has been a weapon for us on kickoffs." Of his 82 kickoffs, 76 reached the end zone, including 63 for touchbacks, the highest percentage in the NFL since 1994. A five-year NFL veteran, Gano spent his first three seasons with the Washington Redskins. He has converted 92 of 118 field goal attempts in his career. Gano feels like he has some stability on the team, which has helped his game. "When I was in Washington I went through four holders and that took some getting used to," Gano said. "I finally got comfortable there and made my last 14 of 17 field goals. Ive carried over that consistency to Carolina." Gano said he was celebrating the new deal by taking his son to Chic-fil-A. Blue Jays Mark Leiter Jr. Jersey . With the Canadiens leading by one to start the third period, Price turned away 16 shots by the Panthers in the final frame to give Montreal a 2-1 victory over Florida on Monday night. The Panthers (16-21-6) outshot Montreal 16-10 in the final frame, but were repeatedly frustrated by Price, who made 26 saves on the night. Blue Jays Teoscar Hernandez Jersey . The defending champions’ roller coaster season included trading offensive star Percy Harvin in the midst of the team’s 3-3 start. That move that reportedly irked several Seahawk players, but one management saw necessary to save the team’s chemistry. http://www.cheapbluejaysjerseysauthentic.com/ . -- Lindsey Vonn squeezed in a little freeskiing on Thanksgiving morning, a step in the right direction for a return to racing after reinjuring her right knee in a recent training crash.MINSK, Belarus -- Ben Scrivens will start in goal for Team Canada against Finland today in the quarterfinals of the world hockey championship. You can watch the game live on TSN and TSN GO at 12:45pm et/9:45am pt. Scrivens beat out James Reimer for the No. 1 goaltender job after they split games during the preliminary round. "Tight decision, both of them played well," coach Dave Tippett said Thursday. "Just hes the guy we decided on." Scrivens won all three of his starts at his first international tournament for Canada, putting up a 1.31 goals-against average and a .954 save percentage, second only to Kevin Lalande of Belarus, an Ottawa native. Reimer lost the opener to France in a shootout, won his next three starts and had a 2.20 GAA and .911 save percentage. Tippett hinted earlier in the week at Scrivens being the likely choice after Reimer started against Norway. Canadas coach mentioned the difficult schedule of four games in six days, and Scrivens not facing Norway gave him a chance to be fresh for Finland. Scrivens is now the man, barring injury or a rough outing against Finland that doesnt end Canadas tournament. Tippett said Tuesday that his quarter-final starter would likely continue in that role as long as he won. Canadas challenge, from Scrivens on out, is a Finnish team that has only six players back from the Sochi Olympics but plays a similar style. "Theyre what youd classify as a typical Finland team where work ethic is one of their strongest points," Tippett said. "(They) play well as a team, (have) good structure, dont have a lot of NHL players on it but still players that are committed to play the way Finlands identity is. Its a structured, hard, one-on-one game." Finlands three NHL players are goaltender Pekka Rinne, captain Olli Jokinen and forward Erik Haula, who was a late addition after the Minnesota Wild were eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs. One player back from Sochi is Petri Kontiola, who has beeen Finlands leading scorer and arguably its best player. Blue Jays Randal Grichuk Jersey. . But Canadas biggest concern against Finland is Rinne, whos now healthy after being out from late October until early March with a hip infection. Nashville Predators teammate Ryan Ellis said he and his Canadian teammates are more worried about keeping the puck away from Rinne behind the net and in the corners than figuring out how to score on him. Rinnes strong play (1.65 GAA, .929 save percentage) has helped a turnover-prone Finnish defence. Still, thats something Canada might be able to exploit with an aggressive forecheck. "Your whole game has got to be built on it," Tippett said. "It doesnt matter who you play, were going to play two things that we think are the strengths of our game and certainly we think forechecking is one of the strengths of our game. "The ability to play in the offensive zone, come up with loose pucks, hold pucks and play in the offensive zone is one of the traits of good, Canadian-style hockey. Whether its Finland or whoever its against, we think thats one of the strengths of our game." Canada will have its full roster for the first time in almost a week as Alex Burrows returns from a two-game absence with a leg injury. Given Jonathan Huberdeaus success on a line with Brayden Schenn and Nathan MacKinnon, Burrows is expected to be the 13th forward. "Hes a good, veteran player," Tippett said of Burrows. "We talk about hes going to see a lot of different situations. Hes played on the penalty kill for us, hes played on the power play and hes played a regular shift, so hell jump in there, hell give us a spark." Defenceman Tyler Myers, who missed Wednesdays practice with the flu, took part in Thursdays optional skate and Tippett said hes feeling much better and will play. ARLINGTON, Texas -- The middle of the Los Angeles Angels batting order handled the Rangers pitchers and the Texas heat. Josh Sweat Jersey . On a 96-degree day, Los Angeles 2-3-4 hitters -- Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton -- combined to go 7 for 13 with six runs batted in and two scored in the Angels 10-7 win over Texas on Sunday. Los Angeles took a five-game winning streak into the All-Star break. Texas (38-57) dropped its eighth straight and has the worst record in the majors. "When those three guys in the middle are doing what they can do, youre going to be able to put some games away," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "It has to be more than them, and I think it is." Every Angels starter had at least one of the teams 15 hits. "Thats a very relentless ballclub over there," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Every time you make a mistake, they make you pay. Each inning we scored, except for one, they came back and answered. "Weve got to stop that stuff." Trout, who will start in the All-Star game in the AL outfield, had two doubles and three RBIs. He sent three runs home by blooping a two-out double in the second inning, and broke a 4-all tie with a double in the fourth. Trout walked and scored in the sixth. Pujols was 3 for 5, including a double and an RBI. Hamilton finished 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. "We feed off each other," Hamilton said. "If one guy doesnt get the thing done, the next guy picks him up." Trouts second-inning double followed a line out by Kole Calhoun. Pujols run-scoring double in the eighth, that put Los Angeles ahead 9-7, followed a leadoff walk to Chris Iannetta and two outs. The Angels, a major league-best 26-9 since June 6, swept a four-game series against Texas for the first time. Winning pitcher Tyler Skaggs (5-5) left after giving up two singles to start the sixth. Both runners scored, leaving him with six earned runs allowed in five innings. "The outing wasnt what I wanted," he said. "I threw some bad pitches 0 and 2, especially the one to (Alex) Rios." The Angels had a 4-1 lead in the third inning before Rios lined a two-run double on a hanging curveball. He then scored to tie it as Adrian Beltre grounded out. The game was halted briefly while medical personnel worked on a photographer who was treated for dehydration near the Angels dugout. "Youre playing in an oven," Skaggs said. "I was trying to hydrate as much as possible. It was almost unbearable." Joe Smith pitched a perfect ninth inning for his 15th save in 19 opportunities. He set an Angels record with his 10th consecutive appearance of at least an inning without allowing a hit. He is 1-0 with eight saves in July. Scioscia wouldnt commit to Smith being Los Angeles closer. "I still believe its important for us to deepen the pool of guys to hold leads for us," he said. Scott Baker (0-3) lost in his fourth start for Texas. Rios drove in three runs for the Rangers. NOTES: Trouts RBIs increased his season total to 73, making him one of five players in Angels history with 20-plus home runs and 70-plus RBIs before the All-Star break. ... BALTIMORE -- Michael Brantley took care of the offence, and Clevelands bullpen did the rest. LaAdrian Waddle Jersey . Brantley homered and had four RBIs, and the Indians beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-2 Monday night for their ninth win in 12 games. Brantley put the Indians ahead with a two-run single in the sixth inning, and Clevelands relievers made the lead stand up by throwing 3 2-3 innings of one-hit ball. "Our bullpen was phenomenal," manager Terry Francona said. Just for good measure, Brantley made it 5-2 with a two-run shot in the eighth off Darren ODay. His four RBIs tied a career high, reached twice previously. Nick Swisher had two hits and scored a run for the Indians, and former Oriole Mark Reynolds went 1 for 2 with two walks. The victory improved Clevelands record against the AL East to 7-17 and provided an uplifting start to an 11-game road trip. Ubaldo Jimenez (6-4) allowed two runs in 5 1-3 innings before Rich Hill, Bryan Shaw and Joe Smith combined for 2 2-3 innings of hitless relief. Vinnie Pestano wrapped it up by working the ninth for his fourth save. Hill came in with a 7.58 ERA, but retired all three batters he faced. "When Rich Hill pitches like that, it complements our whole bullpen," Francona said. "Hes thrown the ball pretty good the last few times out. Getting him on a roll will really help our bullpen." Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters homered for the Orioles, who have lost four straight. Zach Britton (1-2) allowed only two hits through five innings and took a 2-0 lead into the sixth before faltering. He left before getting an out and with Baltimore trailing 3-2. "Just elevated some balls, lost his command," manager Buck Showalter said. "I thought he pitched well for five innings but different stuff showed up there in the sixth." Jason Kipnis led off with a double and scored on a single by Swisher. Carlos Santana followed with a double to put runners at second and third, and after Reynolds received an intentional walk, Brantley grounded a single up the middle to chase Britton. "Early in the game I was able to make pitches with guys on base, executing a little bit better," Britton said. "I think I was trying to do too much after that leadoff double and things kind of escalated right there." Brantley understood why the Orioles walked Reynolds to get to him. "Obviously, they were playing strategy," he said. "Left-hander on the mound and Im a left-handed hitter. I just wanted to make sure I did what I could for my team, get that run in from third. I was lucky to get a single up the middle." Brantley iced it in the eighth with his fifth homer after a leadoff single by Reynolds. "The pitch was middle-inside, kind of down," Brantley said. "I was able to get a good swing on it. I just stayed through it the best I could. At the time, it was a big swing, and the pitching staff ... came in and closed the door." After being swept in a three-game series in Toronto, the Orioles hoped a return to Camden Yards would reverse their slide. But their only offence came on two swings of the bat. After Markakis put Baltimore up 1-0 in the first inning with his eighth home run, the Orioles left the bases loaded in the second and stranded two runners in the third. Wieters led off the fourth with his 10th home run to end an 0-for-13 skid and make it 2-0. NOTES: The Orioles optioned RHP Freddy Garcia to Triple-A Norfolk to make room for rookie Kevin Gausman, who was added to the bullpen. Garcia can refuse the assignment and become a free agent. Gausman is a candidate to start Friday against the Yankees. ... Cleveland recalled LHP T.J. House from Triple-A Columbus and optioned RHP Carlos Carrasco to the same minor league club. ... Francona said SS Asdrubal Cabrera (right quad strain) has been taking grounders and running the bases, and could soon be activated from the DL. ... Baltimores Ryan Flaherty had two hits and is 10 for 22 in his last six games. ...
